Welcome to ScotHarley

Hi @ScotHarley,

Welcome to MotoVlog.com.
Where are you from? What do you ride? Say hello, what do you like? Why are you here?

Got a photo of your bike?
Hiya - I'm from Oz, but live in the Scottish Highlands, and get to ride some of the most beautiful roads in the world. ;)

I'm the current custodian of a stripped-down 1990 Electra Glide Sport, which satisfies my need to tinker as well as ride (yes, bits fall off xD)

Thanks for the add!

Welcome and great to see a rare bike out getting used. So what is the most common part that needs to be fiddled with on that model?

I've been having issues with the exhaust, it's got a hell of a power pulse. I've blown the backplate and baffle out and lost them on the road somewhere. It's a 20-year-old US-made exhaust from a manufacturer that disappeared about ten years ago, and I simply couldn't find a replacement part. Fortunately, a local fabricator made me a better-than-new piece out of stainless.

Now the vibration has decided to tear lose the rear exhaust mount, so there'll be some welding, painting and bracketry in its future ... :)

I had a 1993 Low Rider once that would constantly break it's rear exhaust mount. I eventually made my own which was beefier because I got tired of buying new ones!

I've had a mate weld a bracket inside the fender (running from the bottom right up to the top rail mounts) to provide some extra meat for the exhaust bolt to hang onto. The good thing about old Harleys is you can usually repair them by just welding on another piece of railroad track ... ;)
