Im sure you have all searched the net browsed stores looking for the best gear at the best prices, so please share with us what site you use and what brands etc.

I use Revzilla.com and that's it..too many great things to say about this company..youtube gear reviews..awesome customer service..shipping..only place I shop honestly

As a general rule, I don't buy clothing online. I prefer going to a shop and buying it.

As for what gear I use,

Alpinestar SMX-3 boots
AGV K4 Helmet.
Buffalo Airflow jacket, that I bought off curlyblakey for £20
RST Kevlar jeans.
Knox Biomech Gloves.

Same as Bikermole. I prefer to try the clothes before giving money for it instead of labouring with sending back and warranty claims...

My gear:
Roleff "Lisboa Kodra jacket"
Nazran "Daytona trousers"
Probiker gloves
Osbe helmet (will buy new soon)

As Bigfoot and Bikermole have already mentioned, it is probably best to try and buy gear in a shop. Just makes returns easier and ensures you get a good fit first time.

Anyways, this is my everyday riding gear:

Helmet - Shoei Qwest
Gloves - Alpinestars WR-2 GTX
Jacket - Armadillo City Jacket
Trousers - RST kevlar jeans
Boots - TCX Infinity GTX
And in this weather, Keis heated jacket

When I did my CBT my teacher said that he goes to the shops to try on the gear and then go on eBay and buys it in the same size. He said that some bikers change bike every year and the gear has to match the bike so they sell it online quite cheap.

I'd feel guilty for doing that! Motorcycle shops are having a hard time at the moment, and more generally this time of year too. I'd rather help people keep their jobs and pay a bit more :-)

True.

I don't know what the shops are like around you, but for the ones around mine I only had to go in a few times before I was on first name terms with all the guys and they ask me about all my recent trips and such. It's worth paying a few quid extra for that level of service.
They're always willing to help out with little problems I'm having too.

Same here, I know most of the staff at Leeds GetGeared and J&S. The internet is kind of faceless in that respect.

Nothing can beat a good 'ol motorcycle shop!

I had some decent money to spend on kit, and got the best:

Halo Oracle made to measure 2 piece leathers.
Sidi Vertigo Corsa Evo Turbo Hyper Race F1 BTCC MIA or something like that, boots.
Halo Gloves that they gave me for free.
AGV Stealth helmet.

For Winter I use a 12 year old Lookwell Goldline jacket with removeable lining.
Cheap £50 pair of 'combat style' waterproof armoured trousers (armour was crap, so I bought more from Knox and have both sets in the knees).
I do have cheapy Winter gloves that cost £20-£30, but normally wear my Halo Gloves (sometimes with Cold Killer windproof liners).
Buff thermal neck tube.

Winter;

J&S Textile Trousers
J&S Textile Jacket
Reica Drift Boots
Oxford Inner Thermal Gloves - Buffalo Winter Gloves
AGV K3 Helmet

Summer;

J&S Textile jacket (No Thermal Lining)
RST Kevlar Jeans
Alpinestar sp-8 Gloves
Sidi Vortex Boots
Arai NR-5/AGV K3

J&S Stuff is actually pretty good for the price and holds up quite well. I used to wear wolf gear but stopped after the stitching began to give.

[[I'm assuming you're based in the UK my advice goes that far]]

Hi mate, I recently spent £420 on a £900+ Rukka jacket... sure I had to order it from Germany but FC-moto.de is a good place to go if you're after branded goods for a lot less than in the UK. That was £420 with 48 hour delivery. I was chuffed to pieces!!

However, otherwise if you're on the cheap... (don't be ashamed, we've all been there when we start off)... I could recommend J&S Accessories, they are good mostly because their online gear is cheaper than in their stores, and you can visit the stores try it on, and then buy it online... and cheaper from their ebay shop. I don't understand that logic but it works.

If you're into offroad biking, I would recommend Dirt Bike Express, their ebay sometimes is cheaper than their shop. Search them out.

I've dealt with these stores and can recommend having had good experience and had good communication with refunds and the like. :)

Good luck!

I'm effectively forced to buy most of my stuff online. The bike shops here are either so focused on only one brand of bike to the point that they're rude to people who ride something else, or their selection just plain sucks. We have a Honda dealer here, thank god, so I can go there for parts (although it's usually a lot slower,) but their gear selection is geared towards offroad stuff. The street selection is pathetic.

What sites do I use? All of them, really. I will open revzilla, motorcyclegear, jakewilson, cyclegear, twistedthrottle, and I think there's one or two other .coms that I'm forgetting. Find the stuff that I want on all of them and buy from whoever has the best price after shipping. If they offer to ship via USPS then that gets a lot of bonus points and I'll often pay $10-20 more just for that service because yes, UPS sucks that much.

My gear:

Shoei RF1000

Tourmaster Intake 2 jacket (summer)

Fieldsheer something jacket..it doesn't list the model on it and I bought it 3 years ago.. (winter)

Tourmaster WP Solution boots, sometimes. They don't fit too well since my wreck 2 years ago and I can't afford new ones at the moment.

During the winter I wear a ski bib for overpants, jeans during the summer. Bad I know, but pants are expensive and lately they don't fit for very long, nor is there much of a selection for size: lard ass..

AlpineStars GP-Plus gloves (summer)

AlpineStars Goretex (winter)

I often buy clothing online, sportsbikeshop being the main place, but i can do this because I seem to get on well with sized clothing, my trousers i bought from Hein Gericke because I was there and helmets I will always buy in a shop.

my kit is as follows, most of which ive got online from shops who do both online and store stuff

AGV k1 helmet
RST razor leather jacketalpinewear textile jacket
alpinewear textile jacket
RST tractech gloves
turo waterproof winter gloves
draggin jeans
alpinewear textile trousers
blytz racing boots

oh and kobe knee armour from my skateboarding days for use with my draggin jeans as they dont have armour built in like my textile oneslol

i bought my rst leather jacket, and textile jacket and trousers online from bikersport.co.uk which is the clothing section of marriott motorcycles in the wirral. really good service and good prices. the alpine wear range seems to be an in-house brand but its decent stuff whichCE elbow and knee armour and was £50 together. the guys in the shop are really helpfull too. im a bit awkward with sizes cos im a pretty small chap but they sorted it all for me and gave a lot of good advice.

i bought my rst gloves and a couple of other accessories from ghostbikes. theyre good, mostly online based but theres a shop in preston so you can try things on and whatnot there too.

the blytz racing boots draggin jeans and turo gloves ive got from ebay. local shops didnt have my size in the jeans, and the boots and gloves are cheap online only stuff but they were from a motorcycle store's ebay shop too. thats all i can think of really. as stated above id only ever buy a helmet from an actual shop, my first helmet was from hein gerricke, store by me is shut now though so my agv came from the honda dealership by chester where the chap knocked the price of it down to £90 for me cos of the trouble we had with the dvla being idiots. everything ive listed im 100% happy with and would recommend to anyone, same with the stores and sites.

I prefer buying from a shop/bike show because at least you can try it on.

My jackets/trousers/boots all came from Hein Gericke.

So my gear, I have a lot.

Helmet: AGV K3 (main) Caberg V407 (vlogging)
Jacket/Trousers/ Hein Gericke waterproof
Gloves: Alpinestars SP1 Stella
Alpinestars WRV Goretex Stella
Boots: Bullson Waterproof Alpinestars SMX5 Stella

In the middle of upgrading my gear.

Not on the cheap, I tried to be as I have only just started out but I discovered that £110 pairs of trousers are shite and theres no point buying 4 pairs thats wont last I may as well spend few hundred and get a pair that will last. Just dont want to be paying for professional racing leathers when im only commuting. Looking for good brands at honest prices. I dont mind paying for quality. Had enough of cheap and useless.

Thanks for all your posts.

No clothing retailers of note here in Inverness (and no bike dealers, but thats another story)

Bought most of my stuff online, Ghost Bikes service is amazing and leaves companies like Hein Gericke in the shade, same with Australian Bike Gear on Amazon.... good service

Sadly some of the best deals (I am looking at you Lids Direct) charge a premium for delivery to The Highlands and add £25 on, for absolutely no reason so shame on them

For that saving, you could even ride to Germany and try it on Neil! And make a vlog on the way!
