Sup ladies & gents,

I know the hardcore vloggers use adobe or final cut. Which is great and those that take the time to edit their vids can really make them standout. I applaud you all. That being said, for simple and fast edits, especially when you are starting out.. man, I gotta say goprostudio and moviemaker get the job done- that is for simple and fast edits only.

Currently, I am using he two. I have the trial version of Adobe Premier and I am learning it.. but I assume it will be weeks or month or two before I can edit anything substantial on adobe, as I only have about three hours a weekend ( Sunday evenings) to dedicate to editing, and at this point- learning how to edit.

That's all folks, just my 2 cents.

I use Sony Vegas 10 Pro, Its the older model (I think they have Vegas 14 Pro now) so its free to download, you just have to find a safe website to get it from if you are interested. If you do decide to download it, make sure you check all the "check boxes" and de-select any spam that it will try to download with it.

I used to use Windows Movie Maker for all of my edits, but Vegas 10 Pro is a great upgrade

Movie maker does everything i need. Occasionally i use Corel Video Studio Pro x6 but i really cant be arsed to do anything crazy most the time

I'm still using XP movie maker and it doesn't support the native file format from my Roam1. I have to convert it to an .avi (media converter "freeware") first, then i can edit it in movie maker. Am i doing something wrong?

I put loads of time into my videos but I really should get the content right and do far less editing. I think quality content is far more important, and no editing can make up for a lack of it.

I have to agree with you there, although good editing can save some vlogs :p

Download the latest movie maker, don't use the one that comes with XP which is old and outdated. The new one is called Windows Live movie maker or something like that download it from this website.

Now, the problem I found with "basic" or "SE" or "HOME" editing software is that they lack multi-track editing. I cannot mix for example 2 video tracks or 2 audio tracks. I tried to do some quick and dirty vlog edits on my old laptop since it ran way too slow with Premiere and I hit the software limits easily. Even on the improved "Live movie maker" which is breathtaking compared with the one on Windows ME or XP, I find it really hard to work with the limits they have. You cannot even add two text overlays.

Premiere is good stuff but it is again, basic. It is way too dependent on After Effects to do professional editing or more complex things. I'm in the process of learning both. I have Premiere mostly figured out but AE is German talk to me.

im using a "friends" version of premier pro,
its a little slow on start up, but its worth it,
just published a 20 second vid, and took me like 2minutes to make.

No need to use windows movie maker etc..

I Use Premiere too, and mostly find it pretty handy for some quite professional looking effects. But when I need to really tightly track an object, or REALLY polish something I just right click on the clip and select 'Replace with After Effects composition' and it takes care of most of the complicated stuff and the Adobe Dynamic bridge keeps the clips synched. And just like anything, digging around in the dark and getting stuff wrong is the best way to figure it out. And trust me, I'm learning German right now and After Effects is MUCH easier!!
