Two new sportsters!

As expected Harely is cleaning up the Sportster line. Two models have come out and it looks like two more will hit in a month or two. Your thoughts

I'm a Sporty fan and rider. I like them both but don't love them. Not really huge difference between the bikes other than some bolt on mods. The 1200 Iron is basically a Nightster with the typical modifications people like me did to the bike. The Roadster which they released last year, now that is a different kind of Sporty. The Roadster ws the funnest Sporty I have ever ridden stock from the factory. Or the XR1200 which was available for a few years around 2009, that was a cool variation.

I like the Sportster 72. Those were so sweet.

I see they lost it and the 1200T. The 1200T was a cool little functional bike. The Low seems to have gone too.

Goodness...shaking my head.

Most likely one of the models they plan on introducing in the next few months will have a variation of the higher capacity classic tank. Can't say I like those myself, PEANUT TANK FOR LIFE! And the 72 were cool looking but were not fun to ride for me with those skinny tires up front.

Yea I like the looks too. And from what they sound on videos. I just have an issue with their price tag and riding American cruisers in general. They're just too heavy with a long wheel base for the tight 180 degree u-turns I have to do every single day to get out of my estate. And the prices are disgusting in Singapore, often matching or even costing more than a brand new Hayabusa, not to mention they are super secretive about prices until you actually show interest in signing the purchase.

I just hate the Harley business practice, worst employees I've ever met in any service sector.

Interesting perspective. Thanks

Looks like there are only three dealers in your area. I bet they are owned by the same person or group.

Let me guess on your experience with the staff. They are cocky and consider anything other than a Harley to be second class therefore the riders of those machines are likewise not worthy. However all that can be fixed if you buy a Harley.

Does that sound about right? If so, it happens here in the US. As far as owning one making automatic respect, Sportster riders are typically dogged buy the bigger bike riders and dealer staff to trade up to a bigger bike.

What bugs me is that the brand bragged of "new" models but they are repackaging the same stuff over and over. Then they act as if they are perfect but since Buell left there has not been a sportbike or adventure touring bike from the brand.

Plus the price point for what the customer gets is not reasonable compared to other brands.

Yet I still like my bike so go figure. I do know as soon as the warranty is out I am going to redo some poor engineering.

Yep, that's exactly how they behave.

Honestly, I don't even mind buying the same old same old shit that's been repackaged since the 60s, I'm a stickler to what I like and I hardly change for change's sake. But yes, the price point is just goddamn unreasonable, and Harley employees know it, that's why they always avoid the topic of price until they've suckered you in.

You should reach out to the regional HD rep about how the places act. With three in the area, shutting one down might affect change for a positive.

Yeah, my local dealer is always trying to get me to trade in my girl's bike for a real mans big twin.

And the company wonders why they can't get more new riders...

When I traveled to Milwaukee and toured the museum behind the scenes I talked with a HOG Rep who said the small bike riders like Sportsters and Streets experience the same stigma that they are "girls'" bikes. What is wrong with girls?

Everything he said mirrors my experience as a Harely Sportster owner. =[. Perhaps Harely has to address this issue in order to stop losing sales. To expensive, rude employees, poor environment among riders etc.

I've gone to Harley shop a few times, and ranted that they don't make shaft drive anymore, and that's why I won't buy HD. And yes, a long time ago they did make few, before you are going to ask.

This reminds me of this video:

The ride wouldn't take my quarter so I guess the video lied....

Good video. I still love a springer though.

HEY. Just occurred to me that we are due for the TC engine to migrate into the Sportster line.

That is if HD sticks to timelines as they are apt to do.

That would be interesting, but I'm not sure they care enough to redo the whole power plant on the Sporty ever again.

Too busy playing mix and match parts with these and the new Softail line ....shaking my head.
